Best Best “Upstate” Cuisine
We’re talking north of North Smithfield — even past Pascoag and Harrisville — Pinelli’s Cucina is yet another culinary goldmine courtesy of Steve Marra and Bill Pinelli, who continue to hit paydirt across the state, as their cuisine regime continues the assault on our waistlines with delicious old-world recipes. Pinelli’s Cucina could be considered the unofficial Pinelli-Marra comfort-food headquarters. Standout dishes include tortellini carbonara, rigatoni Bolognese, and gnocchi with house gravy (don’t even ask if it’s brown), a steal under $10. There are plenty of surf-and-turf options, from the Gorgonzola sirloin to the chicken portobello to the pesto salmon, plus the phenomenal veal dostano, with prosciutto and mozzarella in mushroom marsala sauce. Equal parts chic and shtick, Pinelli’s Cucina interior exudes a fun atmosphere, but the cuisine is no joke and as authentic as you’ll find — on or off Federal Hill.
