Best Best Bright Light in Deepest Warwick
Almost everyone who lives here is familiar with Rhode Island’s state appetizer, fried calamari. But you haven’t really tasted calamari until you try the version at Lucce . These rolled little squid bodies are grilled just to tenderness, very smoky and absolutely delicious. Lucce is an Italian dialect spelling of the word for “light,” which this new bistro casts in illuminating circles around its kitchen and out through the dining rooms. Fish dishes are expertly prepared; baked pasta has crispy edges and lots of sauce. Salads, soups, and risottos seem sprinkled with sunshine. House-made desserts, such as chocolate mousse and bread pudding, shine way beyond their normal versions. And the wine list has some sparkling Italian and California choices. Make the trip and you’ll come up with even more superlatives connected to “light”!
