Best Best More-Than-Art Gallery
In addition to what is hanging on the walls, social responsibility and community outreach are offerings of the Tsetse Gallery . For the past 11 years, founder Therese Lavallee has put into action her belief that art can be an effective tool for change. Shows usually involve social issues, such as the exhibition of work by some 200 schoolchildren (April 27 through May 5). Their paintings will all include sky above and grass below, their different neighborhood scenes connecting as they line up, making a collective statement about community. Come May for Mental Health Month, contributors with psychiatric diagnoses will present work offering insights into their disorders. Subjects of other upcoming shows include keeping coastal waters clean and understanding multiple sclerosis. Seminars are held in conjunction with each exhibition. Open Wednesday through Friday from 10 am to 5 pm and on Saturday from 12 to 2 pm.
