A recent relocation to Chalkstone Avenue has paid off for our favorite little Peruvian/Bolivian spot, Los Andes. South American classics such as saltenas (a Bolivian chicken pie) and empanadas ($2 each) work well alongside unique dinner specials (phenomenal duck and lobster options each week), with endless land and sea options (from the all-inclusive Parillada a Los Andes to the Ceviche Mixto). The $13 paella is a steal, and goes great with a frosty Cuzquena. Better yet, go for the Pisco Sour, a bizarre concoction of Pisco brandy (a Peruvian white brandy) with lime juice and (believe it or not) egg whites, topped with a sprinkle of cinnamon (there are pomegranate and mango varieties as well). And a big shout to Los Andes bartender Stephanie and house manager Omar for taking such pride in their guests, as this little Peruvian joint keeps us coming back on a weekly basis.
