You've never experienced a freshly roasted, warm-sliced turkey grinder from Primo's Deli in Cranston? Never reveled in their Italian Cubana panini (prosciutto and slow-roasted pork loin) or Caprese salad? This is our favorite one-stop Italian delicatessen, with friendly host and owner Al Jacavone (aka Primo) always up for offering a free sample of his delicious cole slaw or orzo salad with feta, plus a tantalizing array of specialties. Regulars know to add some broccoli rabe in their chicken cutlet and provolone hoagie, or line up for one of the signature Primo-Donna subs ("Sandwiches with Attitude!"), like the Federal Hill Grinda or the Feast Special, with sausage, peppers, provolone, and caramelized onion. And we promised Jacavone we wouldn't reveal the mystery chef (a Rhody icon) who creates Primo's incredible grilled pizzas.
