April fooled

By PHILLIPE AND JORGE  |  April 7, 2006

Bits and pieces
• Bill Flynn, after nine years at the George Wiley Center in Paw¬tucket, has left to take a new position with the RI Community Food Bank. The Wiley Center has a tough act to follow in finding someone to succeed Bill. Anyone with the necessary skills and heart is encouraged to apply. Just send your resume to Search Com¬mittee, George Wiley Center, 32 East Avenue, Pawtucket, RI 02860 or by e-mail to georgewileycenter1@verizon.net (no phone calls, please). The Wiley Center is a vital institution in our community and we hope that the right energetic and committed individual will magically appear.
• Good friend Scott Duhamel reminds us that a local guy, Matt Turner, has a film, Jukebox Van¬ishing America, entered in the IFC cable channel’s “IFC Uncut TV Media Lab” show. You can support the home team by voting at: medialab.ifc.com/film_detail.jsp?film_id=1056&list=1. As Scott sez: “C’mon boys and gurls, get on the bus and vote for out little documentary made by the talented young Matt Turner, filmed at the one and only Nick-a-Nee’s, and featuring, among others, my big mouth and near-perfect RhodeIslandese.” Just do it.

There is little mystery where your superior correspondents stand on marriage equality. We are for it, as we have been for full equality and rights for Vo Dilanduhs of all sexual orientations for the entire 33 years of this column.

Though he spent a stint as executive director of the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation under Governor Lincoln "Missing Linc" Almond, Marcel Valois — the newly named head ramrod of the beleaguered EDC — is hardly a household name in The Biggest Little. (Unless, of course, you live in a household with a lot of people named Marcel or Valois.)
