I feel sorry for the mothers whose fake thug sons were shot and stabbed in the making of this album. But it is called The eXXecution, so at least they were decapitated in the name of raw-dog hardcore hip-hop. (Yeah, that still exists.)

Juxx is as throwback bad-ass as rap cats get, with zero hesitation and political correctness crushed under his Timberlands. His co-defendant — Canadian-born, Gotham-based sample-rap resurrector Marco Polo — is one of the underground’s chief contemporary maestros, and this time he brought a dozen sharp blades for Juxx to load into the guillotine.

This disc is not for Drake or even Talib Kweli fans; “These shells don’t taste like Velveeta,” but rather, “These shells are hotter than a motherfucking heater.” You know that Crown Heights Brooklyn bullshit? Well, Juxx is still on it, and Polo is motoring the getaway car. From the ironically melodic “Death Penalty” to the militaristic “Rearview,” this duo have executed one of the greatest roughneck opuses this side of last century. Let’s hope it’s not a one-off.
