A trio of shows worth checking downtown on THURSDAY (the 28th), when MAKEUPBREAKUP (new LP due out this spring) headline a nice $7 show at AS220 (401.831.9327) with 3D MYSTERY, ZEBRAS, and Amsterdam's CONTROLLAR, while Jerky's Bar (401.621.2244) hosts an all-ages metal-goth affair with DRAGGED UNDER, SCARECROW HILL, NEOMURA, and ABSYNTHE. And THE GOODS (featuring Matt Martin of the Wippets) visit Fatty McGee's, call 401.831.3288. Lupo's should be packed on FRIDAY (the 29th) for DR. DOG (who'll bring Deer Tick along for a nationwide tour starting in late April) along with THE GROWLERS and locals LAST GOOD TOOTH opening; tickets are $18 at the door, call 401.331.5876. The Blackstone boasts another busy weekend with local alt-rock acts AN ARMY OF ROBOTS and BAYLOCK on Friday, followed by THE AGENTS and SOUL SHOT throwing down in the Bucket on SATURDAY (the 30th), call 401.726.2181 for info on both shows. Free-of-charge gigs include THE KILLDEVILS heating up Nick-a-Nee's (401.861.7290) and NYC duo SAVOIR ADORE headline an all-ages show at RISD's Tap Room (226 Benefit Street), with MON KHMER and local dude SKY JELLY. THE JESSE MINUTE have locked down a new rhythm section and are ready to roll into AS220 Saturday night with NERVOUS INSURGENTS, TEMPORARY AUDIO, and BLACK BEAR in tow. Then head back to Empire Street onn SUNDAY (the 31st) when Brooklyn-based multi-instrumentalist KELLI RUDICK joins Johnston-based acts DUCTAPE and SMOKEY WINDOWS, along with NK's VOODOO BROTHERS; tickets for both shows are only $6 apiece. A busy Down-city Sunday also includes viciously eloquent Provy rhymer JON HOPE joining TERMANOLOGY and REKS for the STATIK SELECTAH CD release party at Jerky's, while downstairs at Club Hell (401.709.3923), THE SUPERSUCKERS (22 years and counting!) headline an all-ages throwdown with help from THE MCGUNKS and GIRL HAGGARD. Kick back at Tazza Caffe on WEDNESDAY (the 3rd) with BECKY CHACE and BRIAN MINISCE hosting the Music Matters Series with "special guests" scheduled, call 401.421.3300 for details.
