Last call for a pair of fantastic shows in the Provy area on THURSDAY (the 29th): the Low Anthem's JOCIE ADAMS performs a solo set with special guests ANNIE & THE BEEKEEPERS at Firehouse 13 (401.270.1801), while RAVI SHAVI and ATLANTIC THRILLS ramp up the action at the newly renovated Parlour on North Main Street (formerly the Penalty Box, 401.383.5858). On FRIDAY (the 30th), Mike Gendron and his Neil Young tribute band YOUNG RUST play the Tasty Diner Sports Bar & Grille ("where da Ponderosa usedta be on Mineral Spring," 401.354.4420). Also on Friday, Firehouse 13 hosts a birthday bash for local singer/songwriter CHRIS MONTI along with THE RANK STRANGERS, while AS220 (401.831.9327) has THE DENVER BOOT with guests AUDREY RYAN and FOOD WILL WIN THE WAR, all for just $6 at the door. The aforementioned Parlour is the place to be come SATURDAY (the 1st) when SIX STAR GENERAL, OLNEYVILLE SOUND SYSTEM, and LLOYD'S LLAMAS congregate for a badass triple feature. And speaking of 75orLess Records, VERTICAL TWIN and THE DIEPODS join THE TRANS FATS and NEUTRAL NATION for a high-octane throwdown at Fête in Olneyville (401.383.1112). Other Saturday night highlights include Texas honky-tonk hero BILLY JOE SHAVER performing at the Common Fence Music Hall in Portsmouth ($35, 401.683.5085), and FELIX BROWN revisits the Newport Blues Café (401.841.5510).
