MULTI-DIMENSIONAL Primus brings their 3D show to the Vets on October 21.

Adios, Summer 2012 — it was a real hoot, but lest we forget Rocktober is just around the corner, and we have more than enough local (and low-dough) shows on the docket to keep you moving and grooving through that autumn chill.

Let's kick it off at Fête (103 Dike St, Providence, 401.383.1112, fetemusic.com), as the Olneyville hotspot continues to deliver high-quality rap shows with local and national acts, and there's nowhere else to be come September 14 when Queens, NY wordsmith ACTION BRONSON headlines along with an unbeatable roster of locals filling out this bill: 2012 Best Music Poll champ META P and his crew (Emilio Lopez, Matty Mischief, etc.) and JUAN DEUCE & FALSIDE, plus DJ STERBYROCK and GEM CRATES spinning wax all night. Hot damn, son. And for our goth-rock friends (and just in time for Halloween), THE MISFITS will stop by to rock your world on October 27.

The Apartment (formerly the beloved Jake's, 373 Richmond Street, Providence, 401.228.7222, theapartmentri.com) is where DJ Sterbyrock (a fixture on WRIU 90.3 FM) and friends spin the best in vintage, local, and indie rap every Thursday night (and no cover!). TORN SHORTS scored a handful of nominations in our 2012 Best Music Poll; catch Josh Grabert and the boys jam out at the Apartment on September 21. STAR FORCE TRIO takes the stage on September 24, and calling all fans of Archers of Loaf, Modest Mouse, and Built to Spill — you've found a new addiction in local greats (and 75orLess recording artists) BROADCASTER, playing on October 29 as part of the ongoing Mondays on Blast music series sponsored by 990WBOB.com, with no cover charge all night. Despite the frequent lineup shuffling, Broadcaster is one of Rhode Island's best — hands down.

Speaking of 75orLess, the Warren-based imprint has carved out countless nominations in our annual music poll over the past few years, and we're lucky to be able to catch these artists in action just about every weekend of the year. On September 29, SIX STAR GENERAL and LLOYD'S LLAMAS join the legendary OLNEYVILLE SOUND SYSTEM (two dudes making a monster, woofer-shredding racket) at the Parlour (formerly the Penalty Box, 1119 North Main St, 401.641.4589). A pair of early-bird shows at the PVD Social Club (or "the place where Jerky's usedta be," 71 Richmond St, Providence, 401.621.2244) features Lloyd's Llamas (pick up the self-titled debut at 75orlessrecords.com), COMA COMA, and GALVANIZE on October 12; and get back there on October 26 for ME JANE, Six Star General, and Broadcaster. Both shows start at 7 pm sharp.

PVD also serves as homebase for BOOBSTOCK, the annual charity show benefiting breast cancer awareness that goes down on October 6. Check out this lineup: RESIN ED, THE CAN'T NOTS, Torn Shorts, and the final appearance from hard-rock greats KANERKO. Al Diaz, Nick Iddon, Anthony Palumbo, and Kevin Marz had one helluva run, including a recent goodwill tour for our troops in Kosovo. I checked in with bassist Marz last week.

"Real-life stuff sorta just happened and sometimes life doesn't give you options," he noted. "And we felt we couldn't put the time in anymore that this band deserves.
