Business is picking up for singer/songwriter Josh Grabert aka TORN SHORTS, performing a headlining set at Fête ($5, call 401.383.1112); Torn Shorts recently received some nice press from the folks at WRNI. FALL & BOUNCE and CELADOUR headline at AS220 (401.831.9327); and check out expert Neil Young tribute all-stars FOREVER YOUNG (featuring stellar local vets Becky Chace, Mark Cutler, John Fuzek, and more) playing the Narrows Center for the Arts on Saturday, call 508.324.1926. On MONDAY (the 9th), it's Dropout Night at the Met with hosts JON TIERNEY and KRIS HANSEN jamming acoustic tunes all night (and no cover). On TUESDAY (the 10th), Matt Martin and friends host their CREATION jam sesh at the Spot Underground (401.383.7133), while SHE RIDES work up a nice thunder-humping lather at AS220 with CATTLE DRUMS and local indie-punk quartet MASTHEAD. On WEDNESDAY (the 11th), work off some of those holiday lbs. at Roots Café's Midweek Rumba starring DJ PAPO (now at 10 pm, following the new open mic thang at 8); and get back there on THURSDAY (the 12th) for the entertaining grab bag that is THE SWEET LITTLE VARIETY SHOW; call 401.272.7422 for details on both events at the Roots.
