By PROVIDENCE PHOENIX MUSIC STAFF  |  December 13, 2011

Last call THURSDAY (the 15th) to check out TORN SHORTS (pick up the excellent debut, Life On a River) playing Dusk on Harris Ave. (401.714.0444), and/or head to the Spot Underground (401.383.7133) for JUKEBOX THE GHOST and waterslide-rock maestros LAST ONE OUT. Fête has made a big splash on the PVD live circuit, and another good one arrives on FRIDAY (the 16th) with a BOO CITY album release party featuring THE FAMOUS WINTERS and DJ NOOK ($8, 401.490.8166). Also on Friday, hit the Apartment (401.228.7222) for a $3 triple-dip with CASTLE, TREESTAR, and a busy ABLE THOUGHT headlining, while VILLAINER and SHE RIDES team up at the Speakeasy at Local 121 —(call 401.274.2121). A big weekend at Firehouse 13 kicks off with a Friday rap lineup led by BIG RUSH, CHACHI CARVALHO, and RENAISSANCE, followed by a Xmas party on SATURDAY (the 17th) hosted by 75orLess records misfit HANK SINATRA JR., who just released Grow a Pear (which features "Attack of the Killer Turds Theme Song"), and will be joined by WEAK TEETH, THE UNIBROWS, NORTHERN LANDS, and more; call 401.270.1801 for info on both shows. On SUNDAY (the 18th — only six goddamn shopping days left!), kick back or step up with SWEET P. AND THE WHO DAT BAND leading the Jazz Blues Jam at Roots Café (401.272.7422); $5 cover charge or free for participating musicians. On MONDAY (the 19th), the STARFORCE TRIO open for Able Thought, and on TUESDAY (the 20th), the Whiskey Republic's weekly Unplugged Series hosts a CD release party for singer/songwriter WHITNEY BORISENOK, with opener ANDREW GRACEAN (21+, 401.588.5158). And details are scarce but prepare to party for your right to fight next THURSDAY (the 22nd) at AS220 for an OCCUPY PROVIDENCE BENEFIT SHOW; hit up as220.org this week for further details.

AndCLUB HELL has closed, but there's a silver lining, according to this entry on their Facebook page: "Important updates will be posted soon, fear not, we have a plan!"
