The little TV series with the can-do pipes rolls out a concert tour that's essentially a love-in with its fan base; director Kevin Tancharoen tags along to record the New Jersey show. If you're a lover of the series, this is your summer cherry. If you're a hater or apathetic (I'm apathetic plus), it's first-rate fluff. Most notable is the energy the cast pours into the performances. This talented lot displays their chops with their dorky-hip numbers and show a genuine adoration for their fans. The crisp 3D effect adds zing, but not so hot are the cutaways to testimonials of the disenfranchised (a cheerleader with dwarfism, an outed gay boy, and a Goth with Asperger's) inspired by the show's message that losers can be winners. It's a noble sentiment, but the film works best when the pop sensations are up on stage belting it out and giving it back to the Gleeks.
