Adrian Tomine

115 Empire St, Providence, RI   (view map)

Cartoonist Adrian Tomine was born in California and has lived in Oregon, Germany, and Belgium; he now calls Brooklyn home. A few years ago he said, “I’m sure that my work will be informed and affected by wherever I live to some degree, but the truth is that I stay home a lot, and when I’m sitting in my studio, I really could be anywhere.” His new book, New York Drawings (Drawn & Quarterly), collects his copious contributions to The New Yorker (covers, cartoons, illustrations), plus other work inspired by NYC (you may also know him from the Optic Nerve comics and the graphic novel Shortcomings). Tomine will discuss, show, and sign his work at AS220, 115 Empire St, Providence, at 8 pm | Free | 401.831.9327 |

will read from New York Drawings, discuss his artistic process, and present a slideshow of his works from The New Yorker
