DJ Sterbyrock is the rock-shocking, block-shaking Renaissance man lurking in the shadows of Rhode Island hip hop culture, whose presence generates effects that are seen, felt, and heard deep within the core of the 401 scene.
An accomplished graffiti artist, deejay, and radio host (his 90.3 WRIU show The Sterbyrockradio After School Special: Warped Wax Wednesdays is the highest-rated underground rap program in the Ocean State), Ster also bides his time as the live turntablist for his crew, the Providence indie rap collective Poorly Drawn People.
His Wednesday show is one of the longest running underground hip hop shows in the history of Rhode Island, and has welcomed guests including Afrika Bambatta. His quest to support and promote local music has led him to showcase an incalculable number of New England emcees and deejays on the airwaves.
Sterbyrock joined the critically-acclaimed and award-winning Providence hip hop label/collective Poorly Drawn People in 2007, and has become an indispensable part of the PDP aesthetic, bringing a new dimension to the crew's live shows with his scratch assaults and signature sonic personality.
