DEER TICK continue their never-ending tour on FRIDAY (the 6th) at the Newport Blues Cafe, in what is sure to be a sellout, call 401.841.5510 for ticket availability. Jerky’s Bar (401.621.2244) hosts some killer locals — RANDY PINTO & THE GALACTIC BOOTS, GIRL HAGGARD, and SIX STAR GENERAL — opening for Boston’s powdered-wig rockers THE UPPER CRUST, so get there when doors open at 9 pm. A few blocks over at the Black Rep (401.351.0353), the SoundSession series delivers a mash of deep house spinners with reggae/soca act ROOTED SOUND; 18+ and only $5. And the Blackstone presents ‘BRU Rock Hunt champs FAIRHAVEN and RUSTIC DRAMA (401.726.2181). Some eclectic offerings on SATURDAY (the 7th) include local trance-rock outfit PLAN 9 performing at AS220 as part of an upscale fashion show of local design-ers, $12 at the door, call 401.831.9327. Also, THE BENEDICTIONS play the Brooklyn Coffee & Tea House (401.575.2284), THE SCHEMERS play their final show of the year at the Blackstone, and the ESTHEMA WORLD FUSION ENSEMBLE is at the Blackstone River Theatre in Cumberland. The Berklee grads stir up Middle Eastern rhythms infused with jazz and prog-rock (401.725.9272). And don’t forget a special two-day weekend blowout edition of the ROCK & ROLL YARD SALE at 232 Westminster Street, with guest DJs spinning both days and a full roster of acts including BROWN BIRD, THE ’MERICANS, and Boston’s SLEEPYHEAD. Free admission, action kicks off at noon on Saturday and Sunday. On MONDAY (the 9th), Machines with Magnets presents DAN DEACON, WHITE MICE (behind their latest Ganjahovadose), NUCLEAR POWER PANTS, and BRRRMUDA. Doors at 8, $8 at the door. And on WEDNESDAY (the 11th), folk singer/songwriter CATIE CURTIS plays a benefit show at Local 121’s Speakeasy supporting Marriage Equality RI; call 401.274.2121.
