And FH13 offers a little bit of everything
By PROVIDENCE PHOENIX STAFF  |  August 4, 2009

Club Hell starts the weekend off THURSDAY (the 6th) with an early-bird experimental rock show featuring Houston's SCALE THE SUMMIT (currently on tour opening for Dream Theater) with Cranston's CALIFORNIA SMILE, who are reportedly finishing a new record. AS220 serves slow-cooked indie-blues on FRIDAY (the 7th) with locals TALLAHASSEE, THE DEVIL, MY POCKET, VIO/MIRE, and CARTRIGHT (Austin, TX), call 401.831.9327 for details. A busy SATURDAY (the 8th) finds savvy barroom vets HOPE ANCHOR and the mighty SIX STAR GENERAL at the Penalty Box (401.331.8545) on North Main Street, while the Blackstone (401.726.2181) hosts a wild one with GIRL HAGGARD and Jay Berndt's REVIVAL PREACHERS, performing a set of originals followed by Bowie's Ziggy Stardust in its entirety. Whoa. Jerky's (401.621.2244) hosts a CD release party for 8TH WUNDAH, including local heavy-hitters Chachi, Milez Grimez and, yes, Swann Notty, among plenty more. On SUNDAY (the 9th), Firehouse 13 presents THE EVERYTHING PARTY, with a "Massacre Under the Big Top," including sets from THE SALT WIVES and THE [VIENNAGRAM:], burlesque action provided by the Danger!Danger Birds, jugglers, magicians, and special guests through the night. Free admission from 6-8 pm. And howzabout a pluggity-plug for our official BEST MUSIC POLL party going down at Lupo's on WEDNESDAY (the 12th) with '09 BMP victors SEXCOFFEE (Breakthrough Act) and THE 'MERICANS (Best Local Act) followed by RUSTIC OVERTONES. Admission is $10 at the door, with SexCoffee taking the stage around 8:30 pm. See you there.
