Global warming made boring

THE ELEVENTH HOUR: Leo instead of Gore, but still a bit of a bore.

Remember the “myth” of global warming? Used to be, no one took it seriously. Then along comes a disaster like Katrina to wash away years of disbelief. Kind of like the “myth” of Al Gore. (No, not that whole Internet thing.) Time was, he was “boring.” (Right around the time he “lost” the election.) Then he went and made a hit movie –– about global warming, no less! People listened to him. (He is a celebrity now, after all.) Some were even inspired to act. Take his Oscar co-presenter, Leonardo DiCaprio: he was moved to co-write, narrate, and produce this environmental documentary from Nadia Conners and Leila Conners Petersen, only with 54 talking heads (Stephen Hawking, Mikhail Gorbachev, etc.) predicting DOOM! to Gore’s 1. On TV at half the length, this might work, but even with Vicarious a draw for the girls, the inconvenient truth is they’ll be just as bored as we once were with Gore.
