Attention, single ladies over 30: April is national cat-care month, and, surely, you, of all people, are invested in the physical well-being of your furry little substitutes for a functional romantic relationship. You know the ones: they're named Mittens and Mr. Winkles and you make them sit on your lap while you watch re-runs of Sister Sister and fantasize about that dreamboat you'll meet in pottery class one day.Good news for collectors. On April 18, you can add yet another feline companion to your household, at the ASPCA/Fresh Step Litter's kitty-adoption extravaganza. Cats from the Animal Rescue League of Boston (ARL) will be available for a small fee to good homes — seriously, they mean that — from the ARL's mobile adoption unit, parked for the day outside the Stop & Shop in Dedham. A local veterinarian will offer one-on-one training sessions for current and wannabe cat owners, and will most likely plug Fresh Step products in some capacity. (Or is that cat-pacity?)
This event comes on the paws of Boston being named one of the top 10 cat-friendly cities in the country by the CATalyst Council, a nonprofit organization that advocates for high-quality cat care. Congratulations to Boston, and to all of the spinster piano teachers who are keeping our city supurrlative.
Stop & Shop | 160 Providence Highway, Dedham | 781.329.1050 | Adoption fees range from $100 to $140, depending on the animal's age, and includes vaccinations, spaying/neutering, and a microchip ID.
