Assemblage and sculpture by Ruth Emers and quilts by Michele Leavitt; plus, works by Gail Armstrong, Craig Masten, and Susan Shaw
When artists Ruth Emers and Michele Leavitt became acquainted at the Providence Art Club, 11 Thomas St, they discovered that they share a common approach to their work. “When Ruth said she creates assemblages,” Leavitt says, “I thought they would go well with the textiles and collages I create. After all, we are both creating primarily from found objects — putting things together in new ways to give them new life and new meaning.” The duo’s work will be on display through June 29; the opening reception is on the 10th from 2 to 4 pm | 401.331.1114 | providenceartclub.org
