The energy and engagement that is at the heart of the #Occupy movement will be front and center in the creative interpretations that comprise the “#OCCUPY” exhibit at Yellow Peril Gallery, 60 Valley St #5, Providence. Seven artists who made “daring and innovative contributions to the Occupy narrative beyond their respective borders,” in the words of Yellow Peril director V Souvannasane, are featured: Joey Kilrain, Melissa St. Laurent, Occupy the Light, Phil LeStein, Sandy Parsons, Tom West, and the Chair People Collective (Sophie Hones, Martha Nichols, Barbara Own, and Thangam Ravindranathan), who have created “chairs with voices.” Other innovations: augmented reality tattoos, and real-time tweets cast upon walls. “#OCCUPY” viewings are on Thursday and Friday from 3 to 8 pm, Saturday from noon to 5 pm, and “other days by appointment or chance”; the reception is tonight from 5 to 9 as part of the first Gallery Night of ’12 | 401.8631.1535 | yellowperilgallery.com
