Rising From Ashes

204 South Main St, Providence, RI   (view map)

The team behind the documentary Rising From Ashes note that it “was created with a common goal — to tell a story of redemption, hope, and second chances. It was not about the bike, however, the bicycle became a tool that has changed a nation.” The film follows disgraced cycling legend Jock Boyer, who moves to Rwanda, Africa, to help genocide survivors to form a national team. The Village Voice called it “a remarkable documentary. It’s not just about a cycling team; it’s a testament to what happens when human beings care for one another.” It will be screened at the Cable Car Cinema, 204 South Main St, Providence, at 7 and 8:45 pm | $10 advance, $15 at the door; proceeds benefit the Rhode Island Bicycle Coalition |

An award-winning documentary about the development of a national cycling team in Rwanda
