Mother Falcon

270 Broadway, Providence, RI   (view map)

There are 16 or 17 or 18 members of Mother Falcon, wielding an array of instruments: cellos, violins, brass, percussion, and accordion. They’re an eclectic crew who have absorbed a stunning range of sounds and combined them in a captivating, heady, giddy mix, which is reflected in the list of influences on their Facebook page — Beethoven, Beirut, Bon Iver, Notorious B.I.G., Rihanna (“just that one song”), the Strokes. Multi-instrumentalist Tamir Kalifa recently said, “We have the freedom to do pretty much anything we can think of because there will be a way to translate whatever sound is in our head onto an instrument.” Hit npr.org and watch ’em play the largest “Tiny Desk Concert” ever, then head to the Columbus Theatre, 270 Broadway, Providence, and watch ’em fill the big stage. The Kids open at 9 pm | $10 advance, $12 day of show | columbustheatre.com
