Festival Ballet Providence presents The Nutcracker

220 Weybosset St, Providence, RI   (view map)

Prepare for a full stage at Festival Ballet Providence’s 36th annual spin through The Nutcracker. Weaving in and out of the pros who are dancing the tale’s main characters are 125 locals who have passed auditions to take on roles of angels, candy dolls, mice, and soldiers. The ageless story of Clara’s move from a wonderful Christmas party to the toy soldier battle is full of action, and the celebrated ballet troupe, under the guidance of artistic director Mihailo Djuric, is set to impress. Lan Pricolo will have the role of Clara. Djuric has said that when choosing the performer for the lead role he considers “which young dancer is up to the challenge, and how she will use the role to grow artistically and technically. And stage presence, I never forget that.” Shows are today at 8 pm, on Saturday at 2 and 7 pm, and on Sunday at 1:30 pm at the Providence Performing Arts Center, 220 Weybosset Street | $23-$85 | 401.421.ARTS |
