"Rhode Island's African-American Community: From the Colonial Period to the Present,"
To commemorate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and get a jump on Black History Month, the URI Providence Campus Gallery, 80 Washington St, is hosting a new exhibit, “Rhode Island’s African-American Community: From the Colonial Period to the Present.” There’s a rich array of fine art, photographs, documents, and artifacts from local museums and archives as well as private collections. with fine art, photographs, documents, and artifacts from the Cape Verdean Museum Exhibit, the Haffenreffer Museum, Providence City Archives, the Rhode Island Black Heritage Society, the Rhode Island Historical Society. the Rhode Island College Library Special Collections, Riverzedge, the South County Museum, the URI Library Archive Special Collections, and the private collections of Keith and Theresa Guzman Stokes and Onna Moniz Johns
