In last year’s Showtime special (now on DVD), You Don’t Look the Same Either, Bobcat Goldthwait let loose on politics, divorce, going broke, and his 30-year career, from Police Academy to torching a chair on The Tonight Show to directing a string of twisted flicks (Shakes the Clown, World’s Greatest Dad, God Bless America). He hasn’t done standup in a half-dozen or so years, but he’s working the mike again. What got him back on the road? “You know it’s time when you start doing shows for your cat at 9 o’clock at night,” he explained to Tampa Bay Online. And he likes being in the moment. “You get an idea immediately of what’s working and what’s not,” he recently told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “When I make a movie, I find out a year later what’s connecting with people or not.” Bobcat will be at the Comedy Connection, 39 Warren Ave, East Providence, today at 8 pm and on Saturday at 8 and 10 pm.
