6th Annual Short Short Story Film Festival

204 South Main St, Providence, RI   (view map)

A lonely man yearns for friendship, an inventor tries to undo his bright idea, a robot child strives to understand human suffering — the narratives driving the sixth annual Short Short Story Film Festival are utterly diverse. And utterly pithy. None of the titles clock in over five minutes, which is exactly the way curator Toni Pennacchia wants it: “We want to see how short a film can be and still successfully tell a story. The films often contain classic story elements like buildup of conflict and resolution, but the length may leave certain details more implied than explicit. Their success as films is driven more by their depth than their length.” Thirty-six works are being presented in two sessions. One is deemed “Heartstrings” (2 and 6 pm), the other is called “Headtrip” (12, 4, and 8 pm). It’s all at the Cable Car Cinema, 204 South Main Street, Providence | $7.75 afternoon, $9.25 evening [students + seniors $7.75 both screenings] | 401.272.3970 | mergingarts.org

with three dozen films in two programs: "Headtrip" [12 + 4 + 8 pm] and "Heartstrings" [2 + 6 pm]
