30th Annual Foundry Artists Association Holiday Sale

172 Exchange Street, Pawtucket, RI   (view map)

There’s a Kate Champa serving plate I’d like to own (it’s emblazoned with a fish so vivid you actually imagine it splashing), and I wouldn’t mind hanging one particular Greg Stones painting on our living room wall (a zombie about to clock Bozo with a hammer in the middle of a luminous meadow). The Foundry Artists Association’s Holiday Show at the Pawtucket Armory, 172 Exchange Street, positions fine arts and functional crafts side by each; the scope of the juried presentation is immense, including textiles, ceramics, clothing, paintings, photos, paintings, jewelry, and sculpture. There’s even an array of organic jams and chutneys. Longtime Rhode Islanders know it’s a holiday tradition (the first show was in 1980), and gift-givers know that singular art pieces can genuinely wow their recipients. The prices range from $5 to $500. Tonight’s grand opening reception is from 5 to 9 pm, with a silent auction and music by the Topcats; proceeds go to the Bruce Michael Winn Memorial Art Scholarship, in honor of the potter who passed away this year; non-perishable food items will be collected for the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. The show is open on Friday from 12-8 pm, on Saturday from 10 am-8 pm, and on Sunday from 10 am-6 pm through December 9 | Free admission and parking |
