"Fabric Flesh," large-scale figurative works by Flynn Grinnan

60 Valley St #102, Providence, RI   (view map)

The folks at Yellow Peril Gallery have so many artistic pursuits that they need more space. They’re launching the new #102 Satellite Project, a 2500-square-foot space, in the Plant near their home base at 60 Valley St #5, Providence, with “Fabric Flesh," large-scale figurative works by Flynn Grinnan. They explain, “Working with a series of dedicated models, Grinnan drapes fabric over their bodies, creates a mold of the fabric, and casts a one-of-a-kind shell. The result is a stunning recreation of the covered body, casted in a neutral, crème-colored fabric. Creased and folded to perfection, each piece carries with it a nod to Renaissance-era figure sculpture and fabric study while exhibiting a contemporary reading of the body — protected, hidden, even restrained by fabric.” The show opens on the 5th and runs through November 4; the gallery is open Thursday and Friday from 3 to 8 pm, and on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 pm | 401.861.1535 | yellowperilgallery.com
