Slater Mill Labor & Ethnic Heritage Festival
The Labor & Ethnic Heritage Festival, at Slater Mill, 67 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, is the centerpiece of today’s Pawtucket Arts Festival. What makes this fest different than others is its dedication to history. The politics of workers’ rights, the impact of mill culture, and the artistic value of weavers, spinners, and knitters are always in the air. And that ever-present diversity that the Fest stresses is evident in the performances, including Indian dance, Azorean music by Rancho Folclorico de Nossa Senhora de Fatima, the African rhythms of Afrimanding, and various strains of folk (Lindsay Adler, Joanne Lurgio, Joyce Katzberg). And local food specialties abound. Take it all in from noon to 5 pm | Free | pawtucketartsfestival.org
