"Don't Get Out Much," large-scale photographic collages and a mural by Theresa Ganz
Theresa Ganz’s “Don’t Get Out Much,” the new exhibit of large-scale photographic collages and a 490-square-foot mural that fills the windows at the entrance of Brown University’s List Art Center, 64 College St, Providence, is a kind of virtual reality. The folks at the David Winton Bell Gallery say: “Having grown up in New York City, Ganz points out that her interest in nature is more aesthetic than actual, derived from the study of German Romantic painting and literature.” The exhibit is also immersive: “The collages combine photographs of glacial rocks and tidal pools with loose washes of watercolor that soften the hard edges of the real. The mural extends the watercolor onto the windows, thereby washing the gallery with soft colors and uniting the viewer and the work within a shared environment.” The show opens on the 8th and runs through October 7 (Monday-Friday 11 am-4 pm, Saturday and Sunday 1-4 pm) | 401.863.2932 | brown.edu/bellgallery
