URI’s annual Fall Honors Colloquium addresses Big Issues in a dozen or so forums. This year’s topic is as Big (and Controversial) as they come: “Health Care Change? Health, Politics, & Money.” It kicks off with Pulitzer Prize-winner Tracy Kidder, who will discuss his 2003 book, Mountains Beyond Mountains: The Quest of Dr. Paul Farmer, a Man Who Would Cure the World. The physician, a co-founder of Partners In Health whose philosophy is “the only real nation is humanity,” has dedicated his life to providing medical treatment to some of the world’s poorest people. Kidder will speak at Edwards Auditorium on the Kingston campus at 7:30 pm (the events will also be streamed online) | Free | 401.874.7892 | uri.edu/hc
