The holiday season is all about tradition, so there’s no better time for Fiddler On the Roof to set up shop at the Providence Performing Arts Center, 220 Weybosset St. “Tradition” is the title of the first song in the musical, and it’s cited in the press release: “The universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality, and religion, leaving audiences crying tears of laughter, joy, and sadness.” The actors portraying Tevye and his wife Golde have a genuine bond: Jimmy Ferraro and Dee Etta Rowe are happily married in real life. Fiddler will be staged today at 7:30 pm, on Saturday at 2 and 8 pm, and on Sunday at 1 and 6:30 pm | $36-$63 | 401.421.ARTS | ppacri.org
