In Edward Albee’s The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?, Martin is a married middle-aged architect with a teenage son. Soon after turning 50, he falls in love . . . with a goat. 2nd Story Theatre, 28 Market St, Warren, is opening its season with the challenging work, which won the Tony Award for Best Play in 2002. “This persistently provocative play is for only the most stalwart of theatergoers,” says 2nd Story artistic director, who will take a rare turn on stage as Martin. “Pearl clutchers beware.” The Goat runs through October 21; previews are on the 21st and 22nd at 8 pm and on the 23rd at 3 pm ($20) | 401.247.4200 | 2ndstorytheatre.com
