The Baltimore Annex Theatre presents Salome
The biblical figure Salome — daughter of Herodias and King Herod II, procurer of the head of John the Baptist — has become a symbol of seduction and a legendary femme fatale. The Baltimore Annex Theater has a new take on the ancient tale; the presenters say, “Using the themes of eccentric tastes in food, sexual obsession, environmental reshaping and austerity measures taken to an extreme, [the ancient tale has been] . . . reconceived to display what could be a fantastical future or a brutal past.” Puppets and unique stagecraft will be part of BAT’s presentation of Salome at AS220’s 95 Empire Black Box Theatre at 8 pm | $6-$10 (sliding scale) | 401.821.9327 | as220.org
