The Pine Leaf Boys + Steve Riley & the Mamou Playboys
There’s no wheezing when Steve Riley pumps his ax. Along with his Mamou Playboys, the famed squeezebox virtuoso is an engine; his accordion drives dancers with a thrust that’s unlike any other zydeco outfit. They’re a blast to dance to at a festival. But in an intimate space like the Towers, 35 Ocean Rd, Narragansett, they absolutely mow you down. The energy coming from the bandstand can fire you up through Thanksgiving. They’re in the area for the Rhythm & Roots Festival (at Ninigret Park Aug 31-Sept 2). If you can’t catch ’em there, catch ’em — and R&R’s host band, the Pine Leaf Boys — here from 7 to 10 pm | $20 | 401.782.2597 | thetowersri.com
