"Making a Mark," work by Malcolm Grear Designers
“Every organization has an identity, if not by plan, then by default,” Malcolm Grear has said. For than 50 years, his visual communication firm, Malcolm Grear Designers, has been meticulously planning and defining the images of American Express, Hasbro, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games, and hundreds of other prestigious clients. Their work will be celebrated in the exhibit “Making a Mark: The Art of Creating a Visual Identity,” at the Newport Art Museum — whose new visual identity was recently planned by MGD. The show runs through August 26 (Tuesday-Saturday 10 am-5 pm, Sunday 12-5 pm) | $10, $8 seniors, $6 students, free under 6 | 401.848.8200 | newportartmuseum.org
