Suzanne Vega has been revisiting her body of work on a series of thematic “Close-Up” CDs; the first volume has love songs, the second focuses on people and places, the third is titled States of Being, and the fourth (due soon) concerns family. Why the journey through the past? Partly reflection and a desire to “just hear the song,” but primarily “as a way of owning the songs,” Vega recently explained (she has publishing rights but the recordings belong to her former label). Any excuse to experience the likes of “Marlene On the Wall,” “In Liverpool,” “Headshots,” and “Frank & Ava” is fine with us. And there might even be a new song or two at the Narrows Center for the Arts, 16 Anawan Street, Fall River, Massachusetts, as Vega has some work that was spawned with “a new burst of energy.” Showtime is 8 pm | $40 advance, $45 day of show | 508.324.1926 | narrowscenter.com
