Barn Burning has been thundering across the land for almost four years now. Leaving Providence as often as possible to play in as many cities as possible. Barn Burning is not a roots rock band, though it has been called many things, let's just call it a rock band. Barn Burning's sets have ranged from quiet and acoustic to loud and distorted, enabling them to fit into and play with many different genres of musical performers. Past shows have included performances with Magnolia Electric Co. (Songs Ohia), Caitlin Cary, Richard Buckner, Crooked Fingers, Andrew Bird, Varnaline, Pinetop Seven, Slobberbone, South San Gabriel (& Will Johnson solo), Clem Snide, Cub Country, Okkervil River, Mick Turner, Statistics, and The Willard Grant Conspiracy, and a host of others. To date they have played a few hundred shows spanning over 35 states throughout the U.S. and also into Canada with very little help, doing their own booking and promotion, establishing a name for themselves as well as a slow but sure following. Barn Burning recently finished recording the follow-up to their first recording (Weatheredbound-Catamount Records), entitled Werner Ghost Truck which pulls them further away from the "roots rock" albatross and into darker, more experimental musical ventures. They are currently in the process of looking for a record label and booking agent for the new record. In the meantime they've recorded and self-released an EP entitled Choir Practice which is now available through the internet and shows.
