"Suicide Bill" Cole
"Do you like sloppy music with some kind of feeling?" That's what 75orLess Records offered and what 2011 BMP Singer/Songwriter champ Bill Cole delivered on his latest album, Good Morning Breakfast, Fuck You Lunch , which was recorded with his cohorts the Liquors. Bill offers more power-pop nuggets (grab his debut album The Devil Said 'Hi' to Bill too), presented with all the charm of a neurotic, self-deprecating old uncle who grew up puffing shwag in the garage while cranking the Replacements. From the mid-tempo opener "Don't Say Amazing" to the solo acoustic closer "Hurricane Bill," Breakfast/Lunch is best served with beers on the back deck. "I'm not a thin guy on a motorcycle, I'm a fat guy in a van — that's just what I am," Cole croons on "I'm Not a Thin Guy" with his trademark raspy drawl, then leads the beerhall chants on "We're the No Leaf Clover."
